You too? No, U2!

As I've mentioned before, Ricky and I are theatre people. We stay up on what is going on in the local theatre scene and I, especially, like to know what's new and hot on Broadway. When those shows make their way to Chicago, we try to go. On occasion we also go to the symphony, the opera and the ballet, but usually if we are buying tickets to something it is to the theatre.

Several months ago, some Nashville friends got in touch to let us know that they were coming to Chicago for the U2 concert and had 2 extra tickets. Did we want them?

Despite not usually being concert-goers, Ricky and I jumped at the chance.

For one thing, it's U2. Hello!!!

For another, our friends made the offer before Little Ricky made his appearance and while it stressed us out to think about leaving him for the evening, we knew we couldn't sit home with him every day and night until he turns 18. (But why can't we???)

So fast forward to this past weekend. Our sitter arrived (AGH! Really, why can't I stay home with him every night until he turns 18?), our friends arrived and many kisses to the baby later we headed out.

After a fun dinner of Lou Malnati's deep dish pizza, we made our way to Soldier Field--a completely packed Soldier Field.

Ricky and I had never been to Soldier Field before. It's quite impressive. So was the giant space ship structure in the middle of the field. Those U2 boys don't do anything halfway, do they?

After the opening act, Snow Patrol, finished (they weren't bad) on came U2.

Now U2 really came into their own when I was in high school so I'm a fan, but I'm not a FAN like many of the folks were.

However, U2 and Bono especially are so known, so iconic that I got a chill when they came onstage. There was that recognizable face, the sunglasses, the voice in the same space as me. Wow!

The concert was amazing and it was really cool hearing so many songs that take me back to high school live.

Perhaps Ricky and I will have to start spending more of our ticket money on concerts!

Not a great picture, I know, but that's U2!

I always think concerts are too crowded and busy and late for me. But I'll go if the artist is one of my favorites. I'd totally go to U2, but my husband is not as much of a fan. And I am SOOOOOO excited to be heading to Seattle this weekend to see "Wicked" for the first time. I have already mastered the soundtrack, now to just see it live and in person. Can't wait!

I'm so glad to see your "review!" We are going to U2 on Oct 12, and I'm kind of in the same boat--loved them in high school, etc, but don't listen much anymore. But, hello! It's U2!

Mimi got tickets with some friends for Oct 6 here in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome. I like 'em ok, but honestly I never did really "get" U2. I can appreciate them, but with the exception of Vertigo their music never hooked me. So, earlier this week I'm thinking...I wonder if I could get a cheap ticket on stubhub and go just to see what all the hubbub was about.(See what I did there?) Because, like you said "Hello? It IS U2!"
SO i got 2 tickets for about $25 each after fees(arrrggghh) and got a friend to go with and we're going to be sitting 2 rows behind Mimi's group.
Looking forward to it!
Fun!

Mighty M, can't wait to hear what you think about Wicked. I've seen it twice (once on Broadway, once in Chicago) and I LOVE it! Enjoy!!!

Cam & Vic, you'll have to let me know what you think of U2, too!

That's weird . . . I just visited your site for the first time and we both have VERY similar U2 posts on the same day - even the title is almost the same! This is kinda freakin me out . . .

I noticed that, Cher. Is it a case of great minds thinking alike?? :)
