My Dream Job

I have had many a shitty job.

There was the summer spent as a counselor at Girl Scout Camp. (Thank God, LaTeedAh was there too or I never would have survived.)

There were the couple of years selling greeting cards at Hallmark. Not the shittiest job, but definitely one of the more boring!

There was the temp job at a law firm where the lawyer screamed at me for not sending a call through and instead taking a message even though he was in a very important meeting. (I walked out of that job that day and even though it was more than 10 years ago it still KILLS me that I didn’t delete some of the files on his computer first. Asshole.)

I have also had some awesome jobs.

I’ve led two youth theatre programs, one in TX, one in NC. At both jobs I had the opportunity to work with some awesome kids and parents. And in NC I had the most amazing boss. It was an absolute joy to work for her.

I’ve worked for a major symphony orchestra. (Actually, that should have been a cool job, but due to a bad boss, it was pretty shitty.)

I was the education director for a professional ballet company.

All cool jobs, all fun jobs. All jobs within the arts which I love.

Despite all of that, none of them ever felt like my dream job. I enjoyed the jobs, but I never had that “jump out of bed, can’t wait to get to work in the morning” feeling no matter how much I loved where I was working and who I was working with.

Until now.

Now I have a very demanding boss. He screams when things don’t go his way. He makes me work at ungodly hours. He creates really awful messes and then expects me to clean them up.

And still I love this job.

I adore this boss.

I can’t wait to get up in the morning and get to work.

Now if we could just talk about an actual paycheck…

I know he looks cute, but don't be fooled. He's quite the slave driver!

Yes, but it's okay to have a total love affair with this boss. ;)

I love that you love your job! My Eldest was so high maintenance that it wasn't quite so enjoyable. Just remember the feeling you're having now . . . it'll help carry you through those days when you feel the opposite. Cause you WILL have those days.

Yes, a great job even though our bosses sometimes make it tough. ;-)

I love this post! It's so funny, but so true!!! And I can't believe I've known you through every single one of those jobs. Wow.

Hi, stopping by from BPOTW! :)

The salary for that job should be through the roof. No wonder they don't want to pay us! LOL

I have to agree with you on this one. It was easier when I only had one "boss" but I love my two "bosses". Makes for very interesting days.

I can't wait, Lucy :) Thanks for the always wonderful motivation and inspiration!

It's the bestest and the worstest job all rolled into one!

I totally agree. My kids are the hardest and absolute best things in my life and I wouldn't trade it for all the money, fame or glory in the world.

Love,
K

Nice to know you're a fellow Hallmark veteran. :-) That job got me through college.

Your boss may be demanding, but he's adorable!

Haha! Once when I was dog-ass sick in the doctor's office, he asked if I needed a note for work. I just laughed and said, "My boss doesn't give sick days." They are slave drivers, but so precious, too.

I have four bosses, and I am the sort of miserable employee who doesn't follow the dress code, shows up late, and even sometimes drinks on the job (when the bosses are asleep of course!). For some reason and though I have often begged, I can't seem to get fired!

Love your blog.
Wanted to say thanks for stopping by Pajamas and Coffee and sending me the link to your rockin Barbie post.

Hope you'll stop back again soon and I'd love to trade blogroll linkjuicebox love if you don't think mine is too whorish.

;) xo

By the looks of his cute expression I think he may be wondering why you are wasting company time on blogging!

Ha ha, I LOVE this post! So funny. It's always easier to work for a demanding boss when he's cute, right? ;)
