Random Sunday

I have a few mini-posts in my head so I decided to clump them into one big post. Are you ready for some bullet points??? Well, away we go!

  • For Valentine's Day Ricky bought me tickets to see Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin in concert together. I used to be a HUGE Mandy Patinkin fan and had seen him in concert back in college (a long, loooong time ago!) However in the last few years he's kind of lost his charm for me as I felt like he had become a caricature of himself. Yes, you have that big range; yes, you can hit those high notes, but does it always make sense for the song or are you just showing off? Most of the time it felt like showing off. But then we saw him a couple of weeks ago and Mr. Patinkin reeled me back in. Yes, he's a show off, but my God, the stage presence on that man. There were times when he would just sit in a chair onstage and watch Patti LuPone sing and the energy coming off of him--wow! And then there's Patti. *sigh* Patti. I had never seen her live before and she did NOT disappoint! What a voice on that woman! When she sang "Everything's Coming Up Roses" from Gypsy I almost cried. And it's not a sad song. But she's just that good! One of the highlights of the evening (besides "Roses") was a funny song called "April in Fairbanks" performed by both Patinkin and LuPone. The best part of this number was the fabulous choreography done completely in rolling office chairs. Watch the whole thing--it's quite cute!

P.S. This is NOT my footage. I know better than to incur the wrath of Patti LuPone. She'll stop a show and yell at you if she catches you taping, your cell rings, etc.

  • Back in May I showed you pictures of Little Ricky's nursery. When we put his nursery together I was most excited about the artwork we chose for the room. Marisa at Creative Thursday makes the most wonderful pieces and I fell in love with her work and I really hoped Little Ricky would like her work too. Well, as you can see from this picture, he does!

I sent Marissa a few pictures of Little Ricky admiring her work and she posted them on her blog. He's FAMOUS!
  • I recently started writing for DuPage Mamas, a website that features information on local (Chicagoland area) child-friendly events, restaurants, shopping, etc. Check out my 1st article on a great Uptown restaurant, Tweet!

  • As I showed you in this post, Little Ricky has gotten very handsy! And it's not just during photo shoots. Nursing in public has become quite the adventure as he is constantly trying to yank the nursing cover up and off. Oops. Sorry to anyone who may have been flashed my boob lately. Luckily I won a great giveaway from Stuff Parents Need. The Baby Bond nursing cover allows mom to cover up without covering up baby. Hopefully this will help Little Ricky and me the next time we have to feed in public!

  • Last but certainly not least, I have wanted a new look for the old blog for a while. I am incredibly computer illiterate (it's amazing I can even get pictures and videos on this thing!) so I knew it wasn't something I could accomplish, but I also felt like paying someone to do it was frivolous. Enter Ricky! He gave me a gift certificate to have my blog made over for Christmas. Jill at Blogs by Sneaky Momma will be working on my blog this week so stay tuned for the new look.

So there ya have it. Many bullet points, several links and lots of randomness!
