I just posted about my magazine addiction (hi, my name is Lucy and I'm a magazine-aholic) and how in trying to plow through all of my subscriptions I was not reading books for now.
But! I will soon have 2 new books to read that will force my magazines back onto the shelf!
First, Melisa over at Suburban Scrawl did an awesome interview with Laura Bennett (from the third season of Project Runway) and along with the interview she did a review and give-away of Ms. Bennett's new book, Didn't I Feed You Yesterday? A Mother's Guide to Sanity in Stilettos. And guess who won the give-away?
That's right, little ole me!
I can't wait to get this book. I loved Laura on PR and I would love to have even a teensy bit of her sense of style. Hopefully she reveals the secret of how she chases after all of her kids in HEELS, because I can't even manage tennis shoes some days! I'll keep you posted on this one. Based on various reviews I've read, I think it's going to be a winner!
The next book on my soon-to-be read list is When Did I Get Like This?: The Screamer, the Worrier, the Dinosaur-Chicken-Nugget-Buyer, and Other Mothers I Swore I’d Never Be by Amy Wilson. I must admit that I had not heard of Amy or the book until I was approached by one of her people to read the book and do a give-away.
Well, just the title made me laugh so I quickly checked out Amy's site and knew that I had to take advantage of this opportunity! I think it was this blurb that clinched the deal for me...
"Over the last seven years of long days with little children, I have certainly had many moments of joy, calm, and peaceful reverie.
This book is about the other moments."
In the meantime if you want to hear more about the book and meet Amy Wilson, she is doing a reading and book signing tomorrow in Winnetka at the Bookstall of Chestnut Court (811 Elm Street) at 7PM.
Should be a fun evening and if you need even further enticement to enjoy a ladies' night out, I too will be there. (I know--you've just been dying to meet me in the flesh, haven't you?)
(Just stroke my ego and say yes.)
Anyhoo, I will be there to enjoy the book AND I get to interview the author. How cool is that? So be sure to check back for that as well!
Now I'm off to prepare my list of witty, intelligent, wow-is-she-related-to-Katie-Couric interview questions. Hope to see you tomorrow!
