What We're Reading: October AND November

As I was MIA for a while I never got around to last month's What We're Reading, so forgive me for combining Oct. and Nov!

OCTOBER

We love all of the books in the Where is Baby's series and Where is Baby's Pumpkin? is no exception! In fact, Little Ricky liked this book so much that I had to repair the pages several times as he kept ripping the flaps off! A torn-up book is a loved book!

As I've mentioned many times, Elmo has a special place in Little Ricky's heart. So when I saw Elmo's Monster Mash at Target, I had to get it! This cute story of Elmo's Halloween party has textured flocking on each page and most importantly for us this year, lots of pumpkins! (Or PUNKEENS as Little Ricky calls them!)

NOVEMBER

So technically it's not Little Ricky's first Thanksgiving, but this story is more about the first Thanksgiving EVER and not your baby's first Turkey Day. We have a couple of books by Tomie de Paola and we really love the simple, sweet stories and illustrations. I know My First Thanksgiving is going to be read a lot this month!

Continuing with our Turkey Day theme, we have also added What Is Thanksgiving? to our library. With a nice sing-songy rhyme, Little Ricky is really enjoying this story about what it means to be thankful.

And as for me? Well, I'm still wading through my pile of magazines. However, my Vegas trip (again with Vegas. When is she going to tell us about Vegas????) gave me some free time to polish off quite a few. Two 5 hour flights all alone with no husband or baby provided lots of reading time!

Once I make it through my magazine pile, I do have a VERY tall stack of books by my bed (we're talking a couple of feet tall!) and will share those reads with you (hopefully) soon!

So tell me, parents. What are your favorite children's books for Halloween, Thanksgiving and the rapidly approaching Christmas season?
